Judith Butler
November 4, 2010
Judith Butler gave lectures here at AUC the last two nights, as the guest of the Department of English and Comparative Literature.
The talks were good and I also found her very likable. This was my first personal contact with Butler, and my impression is that she’s extremely bright and has a lot of personal charisma. In fact, in purely human terms I would have to say she’s one of the more interesting people I’ve encountered in academia. (And keep in mind, OOO is almost the polar opposite of Butler in ontological terms.) She has a good sense of humor and doesn’t act the least bit like a diva; indeed, she struck me as very modest.
