“dancing about architecture”

Morton, from a few days ago:

“Harman’s recent post on music got me thinking. People love to churn out that old chestnut, ‘Writing about music is like dancing about architecture.’ Especially on National Public Radio. In any case, I always thought dancing about architecture sounded like a good idea.”

I thought so too.

And Morton has a point. For OOO, there is a sense in which all knowledge and indeed all causal relation is a sort of “dancing about architecture”. That is to say, the interpreter and the interpreted are always entirely heterogeneous.
