another musical dream

October 12, 2010

It happened again this morning… a dream in which my brain generated very good music. It happens to me once in awhile (the last was in Malta, as described on this blog).

This one was kind of funny. It involved a new song by Frank Sinatra that was apparently meant to be a parody of Hume’s philosophy. However, the lyrics were as follows:

I turn you.
Turn you around when you’re goin’ to town.
I turn you.

Take that, David Hume!

But despite the irrelevance of the lyrics to Hume, it was perfect Sinatra. It was like having Sinatra himself in my brain, and it was one of the best big bands backing him up that I’ve ever heard, especially the horns.

I wish I could do that every night. In these musical dreams, the music is so vivid that all I have to do is sing it back to myself a few times after waking up and I never forget it for years to come. If I could record onto MP3 directly from my head, these would be hit songs.

Iain Thomson interview

October 12, 2010

Laureano Ralon’s next interview is with IAIN THOMSON, professor at the University of New Mexico.

It won’t be until later today that I can read it, but Ralon’s interviews have been interesting so far.
