Meillassoux on atheism

Meillassoux on why he believes in an inexistent God rather than not believing that God exists:
“Atheism is a strategy of the besieged. One begins by admitting that the territory of immanence is just as religion describes it, then one declares that this territory is the only one that exists, and finally one invents every possible way of rendering it livable despite that fact.”
(from L’Inexistence divine)
In this book there is also the strange figure of the child, which has numerous Christlike attributes, uses its omniscience and omnipotence in the cause of justice, and then voluntarily abandons that omniscience and omnipotence in order to become just like the rest of us.
