supposedly no threat to humans or animals, but…

…I still don’t like the sound of it. All our tap water comes from the Nile, and I happen to come from a small town in Iowa whose drinking water was permanently ruined by a diesel spill inside a well. (My aunt and uncle wouldn’t let their dog drink it; you could taste the fuel faintly.)

I realize that Nile water moves in a way that well water doesn’t, and also realize that evaporation from a river is infinitely easier than evaporation from an underground well. Nonetheless, I don’t like the sound of “water” and “diesel” going together.
