weather becoming more interesting
September 10, 2010
It’s now much windier, slightly chillier, and the waves are again beginning to crash into share rather than lapping them like the kisses of a friendly dog.
The reason is probably an electrical storm I can see near Sicily (which is 54 miles to the north of Malta). The storm is already drifting eastward, off of Sicily itself, and doesn’t look to be headed toward us. It did rain fairly hard in Malta last night, just 15 minutes or so after my return.
The Lebanese place in St. Julian’s that I’ve always wanted to try failed to be open at its supposed opening time; in fact, it was pitch dark inside. So I gave up and tried an Italian place on the other side of the bay. It was fine, but the arabbiata sauce was way too spicy.
The iPad was with me, so I read further in Bogost’s Alien Phenomenology manuscript, which is predictably lucid and compelling.
If I can finish off the coming long section of revisions on Meillassoux’s The Divine Inexistence, it may be time for another… not shisha, because it helped give me a cold the other night. But maybe at least a drink at the seaside cafe around the bend toward St. Julian’s.
