McLuhan conference website now up
September 3, 2010
It’s not until late October, 2011, but THE WEBSITE IS NOW UP. I’ve never met Levinson or Logan, though I have met Eric McLuhan and Peter-Paul Verbeek and will happy to see both of them again.
Also, I’ve simply become very fond of Brussels in the past couple of years, and of Belgium more generally. Somehow my first experience in Brussels wasn’t very impressive, but now I see that I was just approaching it the wrong way. It’s a really interesting place, and I now try to go there whenever I can.
The title of my paper will be “Maximum McLuhan,” which will also be the title of the book that I’ve been waiting to write on McLuhan since about 1993. It’s about time to make that one a reality, but there are the others to take care of first.
We’ve been talking about underrated philosophers. If we were to switch the topic to “underrated thinkers” in general, then McLuhan probably tops my list in that wider category. He’s phenomenally important.
