Yellowstone Supervolcano?

August 10, 2010

Huh, somehow I had missed ever hearing of that until Levi mentioned it just now.

According to one website at which I glanced (caveat: it seems like it might have AN APOCALYPTIC CHRISTIAN AGENDA) everyone within a 600-mile radius of Yellowstone would be in danger of dying. Here’s the 600-mile radius map.

Possible upside: it would certainly solve the global warming problem for awhile. There would have to be a good deal of sulfur dioxide in such a volcano, and Lovelock was speaking in Dublin about how the Mt. Pinatubo eruption alone cooled the earth for years. The sunsets would also be gorgeous worldwide. But I don’t mean to be joking. If true, this sounds like something to root against, with possible global famine its likely result.
