Heidegger/Derrida cartoon argument
August 9, 2010
Most of you have seen this already, but I want it here just so that I can find it whenever needed (I had lost it for a few months until it resurfaced on K-Punk’s blog).
I was never sure who wrote this, but whoever it is, he/she is a comic genius. It’s also an excellent example of humor in the shape of katharsis: someone might conceivably laugh at it who has never been through graduate school, but if you’re laughing hard, then most likely it’s because you have been through graduate school. In that respect it’s sort of like a bitter Navy joke or Soviet Union joke: you had to have been there in order to have earned the right to laugh at it.
One note: the “student” character seems to be pitched as the hero of the video, but I find that I dislike both of them for different reasons. It’s hilarious, regardless.
