morning wrap-up

August 7, 2010

The trip to Chartres did happen, yes. It was threatening rain, but the rain never came. Even now it is threatening but not occurring.

Chartres is a bit further than I had remembered. My memory said it was a 45-minute train ride, but it was more like 1 hour and 10 minutes.

Trips are already set for the next two days. Need to do these trips while I’m reading and outlining rather than writing. Writing means staying at or near home; reading and outlining can be done anywhere, especially on trains and buses.

Meillassoux… Someone ought to sponsor a debate between him and Martin Hägglund on the question of immortality vs. survival. Immortality is key to Meillassoux’s ethics, though in a strange non-religious sense. Messianism and incarnation, again in a strange non-religious sense, are also key to his ethics.
