Meillassoux today

August 5, 2010

I was just working on his hilarious reversal of Anselm. For Meillassoux, God is the only entity that can be proven for sure not to exist.

Of course, that’s true only if God is identified with the Whole, which Meillassoux does not do. There’s actually plenty of room for the virtual God in his system, as is already well known even though the book is not yet published.

In L’inexistence divine you will also find a lengthy comparison between Descartes and Husserl in which Husserl comes out much the loser. But what it boils down to is Husserl’s correlationism, and here of course I completely agree with Meillassoux. I don’t find Husserl interesting at all on the realism question, but do find Husserl interesting on just about everything else.

Hey, that was a productive morning… Finished my daily work quota at 1:15 PM. Darwin would be proud. It’s play time already!
