Here’s another point in response to Chris… He’s wrong that I and the phenomenal dog form a compound object. That’s not the case at all. The compound object is the real me and the real dog (which can only be linked indirectly, but that’s a separate problem).

The real me and the dog I experience are not a compound object at all. We are two separate terms confronting one another on the interior of the real compound object. (Not the interior of the brain, but the interior of the relation between the perceiver and the object perceived.)
