Levi on Carey Wolfe
May 29, 2010
Here is LEVI’S TAKE on Carey Wolfe’s book.
I’m in agreement with what Levi says here about Foucault. One of the ways in which I’ve often felt isolated is that I’ve never been a great fan of Foucault, even while surrounded by so many who think he marks a great breakthrough in human thought. I still don’t get it, and Levi’s post points to why.
Maybe I’ll write about this at some point. Foucault never angers me stylistically in the way that Derrida and even Lacan often do, but I can’t say I’ve ever felt deeply enlightened by Foucault. Though again, many people I respect a great deal have felt enlightened by him, and I’d say “perhaps I’m just missing something,” except that Levi’s post shows why someone with my basic position can’t really be too excited about Foucault.
