NFL loses Supreme Court case
May 24, 2010
Last July 19, I made a post about AN ALARMING APPEAL BY THE NFL THAT THE SUPREME COURT AGREED TO HEAR.
But I am now delighted to report that the NFL HAS LOST ITS CASE, and by a unanimous vote. A verdict the other way would have granted suffocating powers to the League over player salaries and other things.
I can’t say I’m totally shocked, because I remember hearing when the case was argued some months ago that even the conservative Justices seemed surprisingly unsympathetic. But this was sounding a bit scary 10 months ago, and I’m glad it had a happy ending.
And furthermore, this case has one of the best names of any legal case I can recall:
American Needle v. National Football League (08-661)
