great Picasso urban myth

I don’t know for sure that it’s an urban myth. I read it somewhere, presented as truth, but it seems too good to be true. The story went like this…

Picasso is in his studio as the Nazis enter Paris. A Gestapo agent enters, sees a copy of “Guernica,” and the following exchange occurs.

Gestapo Agent: “Oh, so you’re the one who did that.”

Picasso: “No. It was you.”
