Apeiron Hotel

May 12, 2010

I’ve been asked to do a philosophy lecture tomorrow morning to graduates of the Intensive English Program, to test their ability to follow a difficult lecture in English. (Some students need a year or two of this before they’re ready for full-blown AUC classes.) I chose to cover the pre-Socratics, since my Intro students usually enjoy that topic.

In making a PowerPoint show for that lecture, I was looking around to see if I could find a good illustration of the apeiron. I couldn’t, and had to settle for a picture of liquified metal in a blob-like shape. Close enough, perhaps.

What I did find, however, was the following image of the proposed Apeiron Hotel in Dubai. Nice choice of name.
