How can oil rigs be designed in such a way that it may take 3 months to stop the oil from spilling out of the ocean floor? This is despicable.
This ought to pretty much put an end to the call for extra coastal drilling, right?
[ADDENDUM: It could be worse. We could be talking about the accidental launch of a nuclear weapon right now instead of the accidentally blown-open spigot of an offshore rig. Unfortunately, the oil incident leads me immediately to think of the other possibility. I’m sure we’d have heard equal assurances of safety from the custodians of both, one month ago.]
