my interview of Nabil Fahmy
March 12, 2010
The latest of my interviews of colleagues at the American University in Cairo is of NABIL FAHMY, Dean of our new School of Global Affairs and Public Policy.
We were lucky to get him as Dean: his previous post was Ambassador to the United States, which is just about the most serious Egyptian foreign policy job there is. And that’s especially the case if you happen to be Egypt’s Ambassador in Washington on 9/11. Before that, Fahmy was Egypt’s Ambassador in Tokyo, where he did a miraculous job of ballooning Egyptian exports to Japan in just a couple of years. He’s a very interesting man, and you will enjoy reading the interview, I think.
