weird paragraph

I was just reading a baseball story about the book by Mark McGwire’s younger brother Jay, which pours more fuel on the steroids fire. Mark says he doesn’t plan to speak to Jay ever again. OK, well that’s not such a surprising story, even if a sad one.

The weird part comes later in the story, unexpectedly. It turns out that the brothers haven’t been speaking for awhile anyway. And here we find out why:

“The brothers haven’t spoken since 2002. They fell out after Jay McGwire’s stepson, Eric, tickled Mark and caused Mark to spill coffee on himself. Mark then swatted Eric on the backside. Jay’s wife, Francine, then refused to attend Mark’s wedding.”

I’d write *rotfl* if not that family breakdowns aren’t inherently funny. But there’s still something hilarious about this passage.
