Bennett book received

The secretary just walked in and handed me an unexpected package from Duke University Press. It contained an unexpected item: a review copy of Jane Bennett’s brand new book, Vibrant Matter: A Political Ecology of Things. I look forward to reading it.

One of the larger disappointments of work on The Speculative Turn was that Bennett was too busy with this new book to be able to contribute. She would have been a perfect fit, and certainly for selfish reasons I would have liked that small extra tilt toward object-oriented themes, since the majority of the anthology could still be termed “philosophy of the subject” in one way or another.

I need another new book at the moment like a hole in the head, but will put this one in the queue. At the moment I still owe responses to several authors.
