something I really hate on the web

And it’s happening more and more often… Music and/or video that plays automatically.

I just ran across this yet again. There are times when one doesn’t mind reading while hearing music, obviously. But it’s a bit jarring to be halfway down a webpage and suddenly loud music or a loud voice materializes, and sometimes it takes awhile to poke around and find and dampen the source of it.

It’s almost like an annoying knock on the door just as you’re sitting down to do something.
