Cairo magnetic fields?

Damned if it didn’t happen again last night… I have never lived in a place where my ATM cards get demagnetized as regularly as they do in Cairo. One big hassle, coming up. (Having a new ATM card FedExed from Iowa, I mean. It can be done. I should know, since I have to do it about once per year on average.)

What is it with Cairo and magnetic fields? Surely I must be doing something wrong.
