Maastricht is in the books
December 1, 2009
I rather enjoyed lecturing here, and was especially delighted and even surprised (despite the rumors beforehand) that 4 of my former Amsterdam students made the 5-hour round trip to Maastricht to see me. So, a special thanks to Caroline, Rik, Roel, and Stefan for taking the trouble. They and their classmates were an unforgettable group for reading Being and Time together in Fall 2007.
Here in Maastricht we’ll have an open Indonesian buffet shortly, then apparently a screening of a new film about Deleuze. Then I’ll check in to try to stop this cold from getting even worse. The train back to Brussels tomorrow is early, and the Jan Van Eyck Institut isn’t really all that close to the train station (though Maastricht isn’t that big, of course).
There is a Christmasy festival in the center of the city right now, including an ice-skating rink and a winter ferris wheel.
I’ll come out of this city with a nice new sweater and luggage as well. Already have those items, in fact. The sweater is like a piece of high technology: never had one this warm before.
