someone else’s post on Latour

November 25, 2009

Here is an EVAN KINDLEY POST ON READING LATOUR, to which my attention was drawn by a Moses Boudourides tweet.

On this point: “(Graham Harman says somewhere that he initially got interested in Latour because he was the only funny person in Continental philosophy.)” That was actually Gerard de Vries of the University of Amsterdam, though I did tell the story at the LSE, which is probably where Evan heard it. I initially became interested in Latour only because someone told me to read him, and then the click was instant once I did start reading him.

I’m never convinced by the notion of Latour as a devious strategizer or rhetorician, however. He writes well and has a good sense of humor, that’s for sure.
