Levi on Austin

LEVI’S REACTION TO THE AUSTIN POST.
And agreed completely with this part:
“Austin has a stellar and crystal clear post up on Harman’s theory of objects and vicarious causation. This is all the more impressive in that Austin does not himself advocate Harman’s theory of causation. In other words, Austin’s post is a model of what a charitable and accurate portrayal of a position should look like prior to engaging in criticism.”
It should be clear enough that Austin’s manner of proceeding (like Shaviro’s typical manner) is the way to go. Who now has more authority in criticizing my position: Austin, who has shown that he understands what I’m saying? Or someone who just starts slinging the mud from the start? Not only in terms of manners, but in terms of intellectual effectiveness, the Austin/Shaviro method is the right one.
