new neighborhood

Long story, but I ended up in a part of Cairo late this morning that I didn’t even know existed. Well, I knew the area existed, but didn’t know what was back there. Sort of tucked in between the El Zahraa Metro station and the corniche. Got lost a little bit and had to ask a few people directions to the Metro. And it refreshed my interest in the city; reminded me that this is an interesting place. (You might wonder how it’s possible ever to forget that, but after a number of years, it’s possible for life to feel banal even in a place like this. Luckily, a cure is always just minutes away. There are wild and exciting things within a few blocks of you at any given moment in this city.)
