Things I promised to buy for people in Paris:
*one wants a bottle of wine and a specific book by Jean-Luc Marion
*another wants chocolate
Looks like a half-empty flight today, but then again these waiting rooms in Cairo Terminal 3 are so wonderfully spacious that I can’t entirely guess how it will translate into the inside of an airplane.
Killing time, and knowing this would be my 50th trip to Europe, I scrolled back through the list to see if I could remember them all. I couldn’t believe that the last *nine* of those trips have been just since November; it helps explain the terrible fatigue that hit me in late July after the 7th of the 9.
It’s great to have the laptop along as a time-killing device, but I remain dismayed at the weakness of Mac laptop batteries. It’s a bit sad that I’ve already eaten 80% of the battery with just a few blog posts and 9 holes of virtual golf on a website. As for golf, 4 pars followed by 5 bogies, which is a huge improvement from the 38-over par round I shot the first time I played 18 holes on that site (the computer cruelly but accurately classified me in the “hack” category after that opening round). The controls are a bit tricky, and if the connection freezes then you’re in the trees unfairly and lose many shots recovering from it.
If you feel like playing it, HERE IS THE GOLF GAME. Nice piece of programming. (I don’t actually enjoy golf very much in real life, unless it’s Tiger Woods.)
