not an early flight

September 23, 2009

This is one of the reasons that I do like EgyptAir: they have more humane outbound flight times from Cairo than the Western airlines. Tomorrow I don’t have to fly out of Cairo until around 4 PM, giving me the whole morning to pack after a good night’s sleep.

By contrast (and it’s a contrast, not a complaint), my December 1 speaking engagement in Maastricht will involve the reddest of red-eye journeys with a Cairo-Madrid-Brussels itinerary that starts just after midnight in Egypt and lasts the whole night through, and beyond. (Actually, that coincides with the second Eid in Egypt, meaning a long vacation. I’m going to hang out in Belgium and elsewhere in the Netherlands a bit before arriving in Maastricht.)
