sublime OOP

September 6, 2009

Returned to Cairo and checked Twitter for the first time in about 5 or 6 days, finding this interesting tweet:

“shaviro: Harman offers us an aesthetics of the sublime (of which I remain suspicious), in contrast to Whitehead’s aesthetics of the beautiful.”

I’ll wait to read his essay before replying fully. My first thought is that it might be true on some level, but if there’s a “sublime” in my theory of allure, it’s all over the place, including in shiny little trinkets and cute puppies, not just stormy seas.
