The conference is off to a good start, with a nice first talk.

Celebratory dinner afterward with other speakers at a tapas bar. First meetings with, among others, Mario Biagioli, John Law, Annemarie Mol.

Lecture tomorrow at 9 AM, so I am checking out to go get some sleep. Net service way overpriced at this htoel, so less frequent blogging than expected. I am not paying 10 Quid per day for wireless, just on principle. Maybe I will do it for one day at the end of the week.

Peter Gratton from San Diego also here. Nick Bingham, Noortje Marres, and others. Good conference so far. But I have to defend unified substance agaisnt Law and Mol tomorrow, and will be outnumbered.
