where everyone now goes in Zamalek

The Thai restaurant in Zamalek, called Sabai Sabai, has always been reasonably good. But with its recent opening of a rooftop dining area (the elevator button says 4, but it’s somewhere around the 10th floor) has vaulted it to near the top of the list of nice places to hang out with friends in Zamalek.

I think this will be my 4th or 5th time there in the past three weeks. Every time a fresh load of new faculty lands in town, someone wants to show them the Thai rooftop, and so it goes, on and on. This is probably the most fun group of any set of new faculty that I’ve ever encountered at AUC, which bodes well for the coming year.
