De Jaren

Currently sitting at De Jaren café in Amsterdam, one block from the UvA Department of Philosophy. I was hoping to drop in and surprise some of my old comrades there, but forgot that it’s Good Friday. I’ll only be here tomorrow and one other weekend day on the way out, so I’m going to miss everybody. Regrettable.

Gorgeous weather in Amsterdam, and since it’s only April the streets are crowded without being preposterously crowded.

What to do next? Probably head over to Athenaeum and pick up Vols. II and III of Sloterdijk’s Sphären, the ones I’ve never read.

Any UvA people reading this? Send me an e-mail, though I’m not sure how regular my access is going to be. This is only a 36-hour stay or so in A’Dam, so I couldn’t look everybody up– was counting on a surprise, but the gates were even locked. One of these days I’ll make a bigger return trip.
