proofs of P. of N.

The proofs of Prince of Networks have arrived, so the book is that much closer to reality.

Other author experiences may differ. Mine are like this… The proofs are always utterly depressing, and I have to steel myself to read them. Somehow the prose always sounds awkward and artificial, and you feel yourself facing a death sentence because at this point it’s simply too late to make significant changes.

But then, once the book is in paper format, it’s always a delight to read and I’m always proud to have written it.

Correcting the proofs for my books has always ranked among the most agonizing experiences of my life, but receiving and reading the finished books has always ranked among the most gratifying.
